Renal Proximal Tubule Cell Line (RPT-I8) (ABI-TC4179)

Immortalized renal proximal tubule (RPT) cell line derived from primary rabbit kidney proximal tubule cell cultures which were transfected with the pRSV-T vector containing SV40 early region genes.The renal proximal tubule is part of the nephron (structural and functional unit of the kidney) containing the tubular fluid filtered through the glomerulus. The renal proximal tubule contains the components, proximal convulated tubule, loop of henle and the distal convulated tubule. Damage to the tubule can lead to kidney diseases such as Diabetes or Glomerular Disease.
