IFN-\u03b3 is produced by T cells and Natural Killer cells following antigen-specific activation. IFN-\u03b3 binds IFN-\u03b3 receptors (IFN-\u03b3 R1 and IFN-\u03b3 R2), which are expressed on most immune cells, to activate the JAK-STAT pathway. IFN-\u03b3 induced signaling increases the expression of class 1 major histocompatibility complex (MHC) molecules.
